Laser Hair Removal – FAQs

We recommend a consultation where we can go through your medical history and check that the treatment is right for you.  Your consultation fee will be deducted from your first laser treatment.

We will look at the area be treated and take photos for your records (please have at least 2-3 days growth).

We will perform a test patch to check for any rare adverse reactions and get your settings ready for your first treatment.

The cost of treatment and approximate treatment journey will also be discussed at this time.  As with any treatment, it will be patient dependent and may vary from area to area.

The help the process run smoothly please fill out your consultation forms sent to you via text message before your appointment.

With our laser, we have separate cooling attached to sooth and protect the skin during treatment, resulting on a more comfortable experience.  The treatment should be relatively pain-free, although everyone feels things differently and sensations may vary depending on the area being treated.

InMode's DiolazeXL uses a high power and large spot size depending on the area treated, allowing for an extremely quick treatment.

InMode's DiolazeXL is the newest machine available, FDA approved and a Class 4 medical grade laser made in the USA. This laser has a built in Skintel melanin reader to make sure we are treating you at the correct settings, resulting in faster and fewer treatments vs other lasers currently out in the market. At present, there are only 2 of these in the NZ market.

Like all hair removal machines – there needs to be pigment in the hair to see any results.  Blonde, grey, or very fair hair will not be affected.

Yes! We can safely treat all skin colours.

We generally say 6-10 treatments and then you may need maintenance treatments further down the track for stubborn or hormonal hairs. Sometimes facial areas can require more treatments as it can be a strong hormonal area.

If you follow our treatment guidelines, laser hair removal will result in permanent reduction.  As above, hormonal hairs may tend to pop up again depending on the area.

Please shave the area to be treated the day before treatment. We may ask you at your previous appointment to leave a small patch so we can check the growth and we can shave this for you on the day. A close shave is best.

Every time you have an appointment you will need to fill out a returning client form. This is to make sure nothing has changed medically with you. We will then let you get changed, provide wipes for the area treated, and you can get comfortable on the bed. You will be required to wear the laser safety glasses.

We will cover this at the time of your skin consultation depending which area we are treating. Facial hair may need to be treated more regularly than body hair for example.

Please only shave in-between appointments. Do not wax, pluck, bleach, thread, or use hair removal creams.

If you do, you will be required to wait a minimum of 2 to 3 weeks for before you can be treated. Waxing, plucking, bleaching, threading or hair removal creams may also stimulate new growth and will not get the best results from your laser sessions.

Please do not get sunburnt or use fake tan 2 weeks prior to your appointment. If you go out in the sun, we would ask you to use an SPF50. If you are sunburnt or have an active tan, we will not be able to do your treatment and will rebook you for 4 weeks’ time.

Please do not use strong exfoliants for a minimum of 24hrs before your appointment, or any Vitamin A creams on the area for 14days prior to your appointment. These things can cause adverse reactions to your laser treatment.

Your therapist will go over this with you and you will also be emailed an aftercare form at your first appointment for thorough details.

First 24hrs post treatment no excessive exercise or saunas.  No hot-tubs, hot baths or chlorine swimming for 48 hrs to avoid any infections in the area.  Again, this will be covered in detail during your consultation and every treatment.

No sun exposure or fake tan for 2 weeks. We ask you use SPF 50 and regularly top it up.

The area treated may be a bit pink and puffy looking. This is a normal reaction as we have used heat to destroy the hair follicle. You can apply Aloe gel or post laser gel to cool the area. You may notice as the hair grows back it will fall out of the follicles. Please don’t pull the hairs out. We also recommend if you are prone to ingrown hairs to use an ingrown hair serum for laser which we have onsite.
